Xpan
Unlike a panorama, where you shoot multiple photos and then stitch them together, the Xpan shoots "wide" photos which are not panoramas
A friend and fellow photographer, Ashim Dey, shot a series of 12 photos in this format that inspired me to shoot something similar.
Reflections in Blue
One of the rare occasions when I've shot with a horizon that's in the centre...loved the reflection of the boat and so just had to include it in the frame. Stood in the water, got my shoes and socks soaked while I was moving around to shoot the boat. You don't get light like this everyday and when it's there, you need to make the most of it - you can always buy another pair of shoes and socks later...but you can't get magical light.
Living on the Edge
Shot from the edge of the cliff opposite the Airforce station just before sunset. I remember this trip really well and can almost recollect the wind and fabulous weather.
I can't make up my mind if I'm a hill person or a sea person...but I know one thing for sure - I don't want to live in a city anymore. The Scent of the Sea & You
When I'm shooting the sea I usually want a long exposure to get that nice blur on the water...but this time I had to shoot differently. Lovely & almost magical light with the setting sun in the background, the scent of the sea, boats and subjects placed in perfect alignment to the sun - sounds like utopia.
Illusions at Sunrise
Shot really early morning when there's that haze or mist in the air and all normal sane individuals are fast asleep. I shot this with a tilt shift lens - focused on the birds towards the right of the frame instead of focusing on the boat. It gave the photo a slightly different feel...
Symphony in White, No. 2
These flowers were really small..around a few millimeters in size...had to use an achromat on a macro lens to get them. I spotted them while on a walk in woods...I wanted a smooth clutter free bokeh for the background so spent sometime to shooting these flowers while trying various angles till I got this frame.

I tried to catch some Fog - but I Mist
I like shooting trees. The number of keepers that I've got with tree's in them far outnumber the ones without.
So here I was driving on my way to shoot some photos in the middle of nowhere...saw this tree and I just had to stop and step out of the car.
There was heavy rain, there was strong wind, there was thick fog that made the world look black and white - everything that camera companies would say you should keep your camera away from but I had to step out and shoot.....Some of the best photos are always ones which are unplanned.xpanxwidelonavalakhandalaairforcestationambyvalleysatarabombaymumbaimaharashtraIndia
The City of Dreams & The Saint
I've shot similar pics at Haji Ali in the past - so this time as part of my quest in making familiar places look different I tried a long exposure with a tilt shift lens. Was happy with the result especially when the green lights in the minaret came on....I thought they added a nice touch to the warm sunset ...I could hear the call for prayer echoing in the distance from across the water...It was time to pack up.
Bombay Harbour
I've taken numerous photos from this place as its quite close to where I live. I liked this particular one a lot as I managed to get the water blurred with a slow shutter while retaining some sharpness on the boats as the sea was quite calm that day.

Camels & Life
A traveler I am, and a navigator, and everyday I discover a new region within my soul.....Lost in thoughts of Khalil Gibran, I see the rough weather suddenly clearing up and sunlight comes streaming through the clouds though I can see heavy rain in the distance.....I got lucky.

Made like a Gun...Goes like a Bullet
There's pin drop silence all around and I'm standing there enjoying the sunset...with the wind changing direction, from somewhere in the hills you hear the beat of an old British single cylinder cast iron engine thumping steadily....its almost like music on the barren landscape.
My fascination with the Royal Enfield Bullet started when I was a kid sitting on the tank of my fathers Bullet. Every-time I ride this motorcycle I feel I'm back in the good old days...Somethings never changexpanxwidepanchganimahableshwartablelandkaassatarabombaymumbaimaharashtraIndia
